A Rare Sight, Light Pillars Seen in North Bay

"Beam me up, Scotty!"

Timothy Joseph Elzinga was checking on his lil’ man in bed when he spotted them through the window. It looked like a scene from a Star Trek episode but the USS Enterprise wasn’t responsible for this rare occurrence.

These rays of brilliantly colored lights shooting upward, “light pillars” happen when ice crystals on the snow are reflected to the sky.
