Barrie Bans Exotic Show Animals

Barrie is banning exotic animals in circuses, thanks to suggestion from the public. At City Hall Monday night, council voted to include the ban on exotic animals in circuses or similar shows into the by-laws that govern how business licences are handed out. The issue came up at city hall, thanks to the Community Suggestion Forum, a city-run website that allows folks to submit or vote on suggestions. Once the suggestion gets enough votes, council takes a look at it, as is the case with the exotic animal ban approved last night, and expected to be ratified next week.
