Cap and trade system no more in Ontario

Ontario joins Saskatchewan in challenging the federal government’s power to impose a carbon tax on provinces.

July 3rd marks the end of the cap and trade system in Ontario. Premier Doug Ford and the governing PC’s made the announcement and said the Government will begin an orderly wind-down of all programs funded out of cap-and-trade carbon tax revenues. In an Auditor General look into the cap and trade system, it could cost Ontario consumers and businesses $8 billion.
