Collingwood To Appeal Ministry Decision On Turbines

Ministry Gives Thumbs Up To Turbines Near Airport

The Town of Collingwood is appealing a recent wind turbine decision. Council will file a notice of appeal on the decision of the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change to allow wind turbines to be built near the Collingwood Regional Airport. The Ministry gave approval to wpd Fairview Wind Inc. on February 11th to build eight turbines in the County Road 42 and 27/28 Sideroad area. Town council points to studies that show the turbines would have a significant imapct on landing adn take-off minimums, safety and human health concerns and damage to current and future business at the airport.
