Dogs…On A Leash Please

Dog attacked on trail in Collingwood

The Town of Collignwood is urging pet owners to ensure they have their pets leashed when out for a walk in parks and on trails. A golden retriever had to be treated recently after being attacked by two unleashed dogs on the Black Ash Trail. A town bylaw requires pets to be leashed at all times to help prevent injury to other park and trail users, including other dogs. Unleashed dogs may also cause apprehension in other dogs and owners when approaching an unfamiliar, unleashed dog. The fine for not having your pet leashed in public can be as high as $240. If you want to let your pet run free there are three off-leash dog recreation areas in Collignwood where dogs are permitted to be off-leash.
