Filling A Need For Knapsacks – Back To School

Not all everyone can afford the paper and pencils

Labour of love underway for Chris Russell at Pie Wood Fired Pizza. He’s collecting donations, also purchasing pens, pencils, paper, notebooks and more, and putting them into knapsacks for kids who need them as they head back to school. he started this four years ago thinking he would need to fill maybe 200 knapsacks. He found the need was for more like 1200. This year, he’s stuffing 1400 with lots of support from businesses in the community. He’s also collecting donations at PIE locations until Sunday; wait staff hoping you’ll drop a ‘loonie’ or ‘toonie’ into the knapsacks they’re wearing. More on this in our interview with Russell below…
