Former Alliston Mayor Oakla Gray Has Died

Served on Alliston Council for 22 years

oakla-grayFlags are at half mast in New Tecumseth in honour of former councillor Oakla Gray who died Thursday, a week before his 89th birthday. Gray served as Reeve, Deputy-Reeve and Councillor before becoming Mayor of Alliston in 1974 – a post he held until 1985.  Gray was instrumental is getting Honda to Alliston for its first Canadian Assembly Plant. He also owned his own business – Gray’s Grocery – for 27 years. Visitation will be held at Drury Funeral Centre, 519 Victoria St. E. Alliston on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations to Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
