From Orange Is the New Black to Barrie and Orillia… Dress For Success!

This National Volunteer Week, We Salute the Organizations Making A Difference In Our Community

For National Volunteer Week we celebrate the organizations making a difference in our community, including Dress for Success. DFS is an international organization whose supporters include everyone from fashion icon Jeanne Beker to Kool FM’s own Lisa Morgan.

In addition to acting as a spokesperson, former Fashion Television host and fashion designer Jeanne Beker even donates part of her clothing line to the organization.

You may have heard of Dress for Success on the hit series Orange is the New Black, when the inmates try and dress themselves for a mock job fair (with some questionable attire!)

DFS provides women with gently used and sometimes new clothing that’s been donated from generous supporters. The organizations goal is to prepare women for the workforce through more ways than one, including mock interviews and resume editing.

The organization helps change lives of women in our community, so hats off to them– and volunteers everywhere– for making a difference.

Please keep in mind that they accept donations of interview appropriate workwear, and think of them when you’re getting rid of work-appropriate attire! Check out their website here.

Happy National Volunteer Week! Thanks For Supporting Our Community!
