Gord Downie has just announced that he will perform two more shows in October, in support of his Secret Path project…

The music will be released on Oct.18, and Downie will perform it during two special shows. The first will be at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa on Tuesday, Oct. 18 while the second is slated for Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto on Friday, Oct. 21. Times for the shows have yet to be announced.  Tickets for the shows go on sale Sept. 23.  Tickets are expected to go on sale Friday, with all proceeds going to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s efforts.

And speaking of The Hip….

The Canadian Cancer Society and the Sunnybrook Foundation say the Tragically Hip’s recent tour has raised more than $1 million for brain cancer research in Canada.  The Sunnybrook Foundation says donations totalling nearly $800,000 have been made to the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.  Sunnybrook and the Cancer Society say the donations have come from bake sales, raffles, concert viewing parties and ticket sales, as thousands of fans have translated their emotional response to Downie’s diagnosis into action.

 

Justin Bieber has reportedly ended his weeks-long fling with teenage model Sofia Richie.

The Boyfriend hitmaker became linked to Lionel Richie’s daughter in early August, and they enjoyed a jet-setting romance, with Sofia joining her man for a pair of concerts in Japan, before Justin treated her to a romantic Mexican getaway in honour of her 18th birthday.  Justin and Sofia have yet to comment on the split report, which comes just days after the teen gushed about her “special relationship” with the singer.

 

The Kids of Stranger Things stole the Emmys!

The best moment from last night’s Emmys happened to happened pre-show, when everyone’s favourite children, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Millie Bobby Brown, a.k.a, Dustin, Lucas, and Eleven from Stranger Things, took the stage. The trio entertained the crowd by slaying Uptown Funk. Check out the full video and watch for the gold medal worthy synchronized dab at the end.
