High Miler May Face Heavier Fines Thanks to Community Safety Zone

Vehicle Clocked at 116km/h in a 50 Zone

A New Tecumseth teen will be walking for a while, after police say he was clocked at over twice the speed limit. Around 7:00 Tuesday night, officers had the radar gun out along the 7th Line near Bond Head. A vehicle went through the Community Safety Zone there, and while the speed limit sign said 50km/h, the police radar gun said 116. The driver, an 18-year-old boy, was charged with Street Racing, and as he was tagged in a Community Safety Zone, if he’s convicted, the fine increases substantially.
