Ladies and gentlemen of the makeup loving variety, I implore you, just because you have a full face of makeup on doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be reapplying you sunscreen. After the heatwave we experienced here in Barrie the past week it should come as no surprise that a high SPF is just as important as any other part of your skincare routine.

If your looking to ramp up your sunscreen game this summer follow these steps:

1. After washing your face, pat your face dry completely and then apply your regular moisturiser.

2. After allowing your moisturiser drys you should be using about half a teaspoon of an SPF that is a 25 or higher. This may seem like a lot of coverage but just keep rubbing it in until it sets into your skin. This will allow you to longer into the day without having to reapply.

3. Let your sunscreen set COMPLETELY.

4. Apply your foundation as usual.

It should be done in this order for best results.

The process of reapplying! So, so important. If you feel like you don’t want to mess with your make up why not try a spray on SPF option? Many makeup companies make a good SPF that is meant to be used in this way so it wont mess with your makeup. Do you have oily skin? No problem! Many drugstore brand companies are now making sheer powders that contain SPF in the ingredients. It protects your skin and it will deal with any unwanted shiny spots you may have when your out and about.

It might feel like a drag to remember to keep applying sunscreen every few hours but your future skin will thank you when you don’t have any sun spots!
