Hydro One Partial Sale to Cost More than Expected

Financial Accountability Officer Says It Would Have Been Cheaper To Borrow Funds

Ontario’s financial accountability officer says the cost of selling parts of Hydro One will be higher in the long term than expected. The Liberal Government at the time said proceeds of the partial sale of Hydro One would go towards infrastructure, but the province’s financial watchdog says it’ll actually cost more than if the province just borrowed the funds, with an impact to the province’s bottom line to be felt until the year 2025.
