LISTEN: Walk Off The Earth National Anthem Controversy at World Cup
"In all of US command"
Well our Team Canada boys certainly made it interesting last night, with a 2-1 win over Team Europe in the World Cup, with those last two goals scored in the last few minutes of the game.
But what I thought was the coolest part, was the singing of the National Anthem done by Walk Off The Earth. That was probably the best anthem I’ve ever heard! I loved that they did it in they’re own acoustic style and with a ukulele!
But of course, now they’re right smack in the middle of controversy, because Sarah sang the words “in all of US command”, instead of the old lyric “in all THY SONS command”.
The Burlington, Ontario group is getting a ton of backlash online, but they can handle their own…

Well Pete, this is us singing our 🇨🇦national anthem right before the boys @HC_Men cleaned house again. https://t.co/74bzCQjo3J — Walk off the Earth (@WalkOffTheEarth) September 30, 2016
@WalkOffTheEarth you just lost a fan with that lyric change. There’s a lot more sons than daughters fighting for this country.

Seriously dude?! It’s not the 1950’s. Take your close-minded issues up with the forward-thinkers who run our great country. https://t.co/sFVn4sdwJC — Walk off the Earth (@WalkOffTheEarth) September 30, 2016
Don’t be ignorant @ddm0909 the original lyric from 1908 was “us command”. Get with the times homie! https://t.co/CaH91qxu4D
