SALMONELLA AND JALAPENOS

Remember that Salmonella Scare we told you about a few weeks back regarding tomatoes from the states ? Well according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration it’s now been traced to Jalapeno Peppers from Mexico. The FDA says they’ve found salmonella bacteria at a distribution centre in Texas and are warning you not to eat fresh jalapenos or products made with fresh jalapenos. The strain of bacteria is Salmonella Saintpaul. It has made over 1,200 people sick. Just days ago the FDA lifted its ban on certain raw tomatoes. Of course all of this means, it’s much better to buy locally with lots of fresh local produce available in and around the region this time of the year
