UPDATE: Tornado Confirmed In Georgina

5th tornado of season in Ontario

Sunday Afternoon: Environment Canada has confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down Saturday afternoon in Georgian. A damage survey team say it appears to have caused damage from Sunset Beach to port Bolster. along the southeast shore of lake Simcoe. Based on the damage to trees and buildings – a boat shelter near Riverview Beach was blown over – the survey team estimates wind speed at between 150 and 175 kilometres per hour.

Sunday Morning: Yesterday’s wild weather that rolled through the South Central Ontario left some damage in it’s wake. Thunderstorm Watches and Warnings and some brief tornado warnings were issued from Muskoka south the the GTA.  Downed trees and power outages were reported in many areas. And Environment Canada is investigating a potential tornado sighting at Sunset Beach on the south shore of Lake Simcoe.
