Spring Flooding In Muskoka Leads To Lawsuit

Public meeting on Sunday for those affected

A multi-million dollar class action suit has been filed against the Ministry of Natural Resources on behalf of Muskoka residents affected by flooding last spring. The $900M suit alleges the Ministry failed to effectively manage water levels – as required by the Muskoka River Water Management Plan -leading to the flooding along the Muskoka Lakes in March and April. The Ministry says it has no control over severe weather conditions, not to mention the spring melt came earlier than usual.  A public meeting is being held Sunday, 9:30am, at the Port Carling Community Centre to discuss the suit.
