Swimmer Shares Her Medal with Teammate
16-year-old Penny Oleksiak of Toronto has won four medals at the Summer Games– – one of which for her and her teammates in the women’s 4 × 100 m freestyle relay.
But Oleksiak wasn’t originally supposed to participate in the freestyle relay… In fact, coaches decided she would take the spot of Michelle Williams, who was understandably devastated upon hearing the news.
But perhaps even more honorable than her medal winning performances was Oleksiak’s gesture of goodwill outside the pool. Watch it here:
