London man develops new kind of car wheel

A London, Ontario man has developed a set of car tires that not only roll forward and back, but can roll sideways as well – albeit slowly. Unlike previous ‘omnidirectional’ wheels, these do not pivot on a bracket or axle. Instead, the vehicle appears to glide around the roadway. Check out the video below. William Liddiard, a truck driver,  has spent eight years and $60,000 of his own money developing these wheels, which he figures would sell for $1500.
