Why I Teach My Son About Remembrance Day

Lest We Forget

When I was in Grade 2, I read “In Flanders Fields” in front of my school during a Remembrance Day Assembly. Even at such a young age I could feel the historic importance of this poem.

My son is only 3 years old, but I believe it’s important (even if he doesn’t completely understand) to teach him about the sacrifices that are made by the great men and women who served and are serving our country. I feel extremely lucky to live in Canada, and I want him to know about the people who fought to make our nation so great.

We will never know how difficult it was during those times of conflict, but we will proudly honor and respect their sacrifices.

 Then and now, thank you
