Time and locations of various Remembrance Day ceremonies in our area

Remembrance Day in Barrie

Remembrance Day means so much to everyone across our nation. Whether or not you’ve had someone in your family serve for our great country, it’s hard not to feel the emotion on Remembrance Day.

This Friday in our area you can attend various Remembrance Day ceremonies such as:

the Remembrance Day Parade at Memorial Square. Parade starts at 10:30am and ceremony will begin at 10:45am.

*Note: Dunlop Street will be closed from Mulcaster to Bayfield.

The Elmvale Legion, Branch 262, hosts a service at the Elmvale Cenotaph, located at the Elmvale Public Library, 50 Queen St. W. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by service at 11 a.m.

The Ministry of Natural Resources is opening the gates for the service, which means parking will be available for guests.

The service starts at 10 a.m., with two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. The cenotaph has been restored and all are welcome to remember the Vespra Township men who fought in the First World War.

Remembrance Day service in Oro-Medonte will be held Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. at the Old Town Hall, at Line 7 North and 15/16 Side Road. Due to renovations at the Warminster Legion, there will not be a parade and service at that location this year.

And CFB Borden, their annual Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at Worthington Tank Park starting at 10 a.m

If you can’t make it to any of the following parades, please take the time at 11am for a moment of silence to remember those who have been lost and those that are still fighting.
