It’s not an exaggeration to say that there is always something to do in Barrie. It’s especially true in the summer, with Kempenfest being one of the most well known events, but let’s not forget about  The Barrie Waterfront Festival, Winterfest, Celebrate Barrie, Ecofest, Jazz & Blues Festival or Promenade Days.

The Food

You think you need to travel outside the city to experience world class dining? Nope! There are hundreds of restaurants in Barrie, from fast food to fine dining, so there is literally something for everyone. In recent years Barrie has become a bit of a foodie heaven, with unique and exciting restaurants popping up all over the place.

The Waterfront

Our gorgeous waterfront is truly the shining jewel in Barrie’s crown. Beautiful beaches, gorgeous walking trails, volleyball and basketball courts, a boat launch, a playground a splash pad…you name it and the waterfront likely has it. Added bonus – just a hop, skip and a jump from amazing downtown restaurants and cafes.

A Pastime For Every Season

Barrie is truly an dream for someone who loves the outdoors. If you like to ski, snowtube or snowshoe in the winter there are several awesome ski resorts to choose from. Hiking in the fall? Check. Mountain biking in the spring? Check. Love being out on the water? Kempenfelt Bay is right there! Crazy for golf? You’re in the right place.

The People

The list of great things about Barrie could be a mile long, but truthfully the only one that really matters are the people that live here. Barrie is an extraordinary community. From supporting local charity groups to rallying when there’s a crisis and our neighbours need us most, the residents of Barrie are an amazing group of people and that (by far) is the best part about living here.
