5 Shows You Can’t Miss In May

Get Your Tickets While You Can

One of the clear signals that summer is starting is when the summer concert festival starts to get busy. There are some great shows coming to the Barrie area this summer, and it all kicks off in May. Here are 5 shows you need to put on your calendar.

Theory – May 4th, Mavricks Music Hall

Canadian rockers Theory (previously Theory Of A Deadman) kick things off in May with what is sure to be a L-O-U-D show at Mavricks. Any show where you can sing along to just about every song they play is guaranteed to be a good one, and Theory has no shortage of hits. Putting in an early request to hear Santa Monica.

Rick Mercer – May 8th, Georgian Theatre

Not sure if this counts as a concert, but we’re willing to break the rules for Rick Mercer. Canada’s most popular comic is visiting Barrie as part of Talk Is Free Theatre’s Barrie Comedy Fest. The final Mercer Report aired on April 9th, so why not fill the void with the real thing?

Northern Pikes & Sass Jordan – May 11th, Mavricks Music Hall

Enjoy some great music AND support a great cause? Sign us up! Jammin’ For Jamie 2018 welcomes The Northern Pikes and Sass Jordan to the stage this year. The event started in 2012, and all proceeds go to the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Sloan – May 19th, Kee To Bala

Kick off the long weekend at the most iconic summer concert venue in our area, with a legendary Canadian band. Sloan opens the Kee summer concert series on May 19th. The veteran rockers just released their 12th studio album. This, friends, is what memories are made of.

Dwayne Gretzky – May 25th, Mavricks Music Hall

Canada’s pre-eminent cover band Dwayne Gretzky is currently touring Ontario on their Big Shiny Dwayne: Dwayne Does The 90’s Tour. They cover everything from Destiny’s Child to Oasis, and make a stop in Barrie on May 25th. It’s like a really, really big kitchen party with friends who can actually sing – radical!
