If you’re a history buff, then this is the place for you. Did you know Penetanguishene is one of Canada’s oldest communities? No? Then clearly a visit to the museum is needed! They also have all sorts of seasonal activities and events.
When you enter the Georgian Grill & Arcade, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a time machine….and it’s awesome! They’ve been serving up burgers and ice cream on the waterfront in Balm Beach since 1934. Whether you’re there to grab a bite or while away hours in the arcade, you’re guaranteed a good time.
If you have a hockey fan in your midst, then you must make the trip to Parry Sound (Bobby Orr’s hometown) to visit the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame. There’s an amazing collection of memorabilia that was largely donated by the community, a trophy room and some super-cool interactive exhibits. Plus, it’s located inside the Stockey Centre which is right on the shore of Georgian Bay. Hockey + amazing views = awesome!
The Huronia Museum in Midland is a really cool place. It features a replica of a “pre-contact” Huron/Ouendat village, including a lookout tower, wigwam and a full-size longhouse. They also have an exhibit gallery with thousands of historic artifacts ranging from photographs, native archaeology and art by members of the Group of Seven. You could fill several rainy days here!
