Bad Behaviour Begets Boater Blues

Police Claim Boater Took Ticket Frustration Out on MNR Warden's Craft

A Barrie lad is in hot water for not having life jackets on hand, seemingly taking it out on authorities. A Ministry of Natural Resources warden was out on Lake Simcoe doing compliance checks the other day, and say they came across a 22-year-old Barrie man in a small aluminum fishing boat a few clicks from the shore, with no life vests on board. Officials claim he took exception to the subsequent ticket, and nearly crashed into the MNR boat while taking off into shallow waters. The Barrie OPP caught up to the lad over that one, writing him up for Dangerous Vessel Operation. Now he’s got a ticket and a court date.
