Barrie Business Hit With $50k Fine Following Employee Injury

Company Pleads Guilty After Worker Pinned On The Job in March 2014

A Barrie business is facing a hefty fine after an on-the-job injury. Western Mechanical Electrical Millwright Services Ltd. pleaded guilty and has been fined $50,000 after an employee was pinned by falling posts in March, 2014. Western Mechanical was hired to dismantle a steel storage system in Concord, and as workers were working on upright posts, one fell and struck a worker. The Ministry of Labour says while Western Mechanical’s supervisor performed preliminary checks, not all the posts were anchored properly.
