Barrie Council Redefines When They Can Get Raises
Council's Raise Determined By Same Factors As Non-Union Staff
Barrie’s mayor and council aren’t giving themselves a raise, but changing the way they get a raise. At last night’s city hall meeting, everyone around the council table gave the nod to a staff report that effectively ties a councillor’s salary to the same economic adjustments provided to non-union staff. Council can vote to give themselves a lesser salary increase should they so desire.
