Barrie Council Wants Laurentian U. To Allow Students to Complete Courses Here

Letters sent to university, government, MPP

The City of Barrie wants Laurentian students to finish in Barrie. To that end, council Monday night voted to fire off a letter to the powers that be, asking that arrangements be made to allow students enrolled at the Barrie Campus to finish their degree at the school, or that financial compensation be provided to cover relocation costs. The city is asking the province to cover that cost. The letter is addressed to Laurentian University, The Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities, and Barrie MPP Ann Hoggarth. Laurentian announced recently it was severing its ties with Georgian College, phasing out programs starting in 2017 and ending operations by the spring of 2019.
