UPDATE: Barrie Firefighters Battled Stubborn Morning Fire

Downtown dental office damaged

Barrie Fire believes an electrical issue caused a downtown Barrie fire. Crews were called out to the structure fire this morning on Bradford Street near Dunlop Street. Flames erupted just before 6am in the century-old home turned dental office, causing an estimated $400,000 in damage. No one was believed to be in the building at the time. One firefighter was taken to hospital with minor injuries, after it’s said he slipped on an icy surface outside the building. He was treated at RVH and is expected to recover fully. In fighting the fire, the roadway surrounding the scene became very icy, and municipal road crews were brought in to remedy that.
