Barrie Man Charged After Three-peat Department Store Visit

Police Say Their Suspect Hid Goods Before Stealing Them

Barrie Police are saying third time’s a charm after a north end arrest. Police were called out to the Bayfield St. Wal-Mart just after 6:00 last night by loss prevention officers with a suspect in custody. They say the suspect was spotted on camera twice earlier that day, taking items off shelves and hiding them in other parts of the store. On the third visit to the store, loss prevention says the guy tried to make off with the items, fishing lures and electronics. That’s when he was stopped by staff and held until police arrived to charge the 49-year-old Barrie man with theft.
