Barrie Police Credit Public Assistance With Recent Arrest

Witnesses Guided Police To Suspect After Convenience Store Robbery

Barrie Police are thanking members of the public for helping them put the cuffs on a robbery suspect. Investigators say a man waited until the Mac’s Convenience store was empty around 10:00 last night, before he forced his way behind the counter. Police say the cashier complied with demands, and the suspect ran off with a fistfull of money. When police got to the scene at the corner of Bayfield and Wellington, witnesses were able to point them in the right direction, and a 25-year-old man was scooped up a few blocks away. Police say without the help of the public, the arrest wouldn’t have happened nearly as quickly.
