Barrie Power Utility Merges In Effort To Reduce Rates

Barrie Mayor Among VIPs Signing Merger

The ink is barely dry on a merger said to keep power distribution rates as low as possible. The head honchos of four Ontario power distribution companies were in Hamilton this morning to sign the deal that brings together PowerStream, Horizon Utilities Corp., Enersource, and Hydro One Brampton. The four utilities now can pool their resources to serve nearly a million customers in areas like Barrie and Simcoe County, York & Peel Regions, and the Hamilton area. Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman was one of the people called to sign this deal, as he sits on the PowerStream board. They say the merger will help lower power distribution rates especially through more efficient administrative costs.
