Bracebridge Man Charged After Bear Killed

Two Bear Cubs Left Behind Being Looked After By MNR

A Bracebridge man has been charged after police say a high powered rifle was used to kill a bear. It happened near Pinewood and Sander Drives in Bracebridge last evening, police say the 65-year-old man shot and killed a bear in a quiet residential neighbourhood. The man has been charged with Careless Use of a Firearm, while the Ministry of Natural Resources is tending to the two young bear cubs left behind. Police indicate the bears were foraging for food before getting ready for hibernation and were not presenting an immediate danger to people in the area.
