Camp Kids Get Lesson In Emergency Planning, Then Get Soaked

Learn to be Masters of Disaster

YMCA Day Camp kids got a cool drenching from Wasaga Beach Firefighters Tuesday afternoon. It came after a Masters of Disaster presentation by Rob Heffernan of Simcoe County’s Emergency planning office and Wasaga Beach Deputy Fire Chief Craig Williams, teaching kids about fire safety, home safety kits, what to do and not to do in an emergency…

The kids got to try on fire equipment and see what goes into a 72-hour emergency kit. Many said their families had a fire evacuation plan at home, as well as a meeting place for the family in the event of an emergency. Masters of Disaster is an ongoing program offered by the County of Simcoe to school-aged children.
