Charge Laid After New Tecumseth Man Scammed Out of $50k

Victim Thought He Was Investing in Real Estate

A Mississauga man is up on charges after allegedly fleecing a New Tecumseth resident out of over 50 G’s. Nottawasaga OPP say they were contacted in May of 2013 from a man who claimed he was victim of an investment fraud that cost him over $50,000. He believed he was spending the money on a real estate investment. After extensive investigation, police have arrested a 49-year-old Mississauga man, now facing a count of Fraud over $5,000. Police believe there may be more victims in the area, they are encouraged to contact the Nottawasaga OPP detachment to make a report.
