Charges Laid After Provincial Police Union Defrauded

Three of Five Suspects Charged Were High Ranking Members of OPPA

Five people have been charged by the RCMP over allegations they defrauded the Ontario Provincial Police Union. A 19-month long investigation alleges the five were caught up in a scam involving the investment of union money on tropical condos. One of the accused is the former CAO of the Union and a provincial liberal candidate in 2011, while the union’s president and vice-president are among those charged too. The three were police officers until they were suspended over this matter last year.
