Course Offers Better Understanding Of Mental Health Issues

Gives tips on how to help someone in distress

A new type of first aid training is being offered at the Waypoint Centre for Mental Health in Penetanguishene. They’re training folks in Mental Health First Aid, making it easier to not only recognize someone experiencing mental distress, but also offer assistance. The program has been on the go for the past six months, and is based on a similar first aid course developed in Australia. The 12-hour course is open to the public, but only limited spots are available, and they can only offer it every three months.
