A one-of-a-kind telescope has been stolen from a Barrie backyard. Police got the call on October 30th, that the $30,000 custom-made telescope was stolen from a private observatory in the backyard of an Owen St. home. It is described as a 9-foot tall device made of aircraft aluminum, with a high end camera and computer control attached. At the bottom of the mount is the inscription JP7007, along with the owner’s thumb print. If you have any information about this theft, contact the Barrie Police Service at (705)725-7025, ext. 2166.
