Downtown Barrie House Fire Brought Under Control

Working Smoke Detectors Present in Home

No injuries after a house fire in Barrie’s downtown. Fire crews called to an Owen St. address around 1:30 this afternoon, just south of Grove, after a neighbour spotted smoke. It was under control within an hour, while Barrie Fire Deputy Chief Jeff Weber says there were working smoke detectors in the home, adding the search is now on for a cause and damage estimate.
