Elderly Bradford Woman Falls for Bank Inspector Scam

She's Out $1,800 As a Result

We’re in the home stretch of Fraud Prevention Month, but it looks like some are still losing out. South Simcoe Police got the call yesterday from an elderly Bradford resident reporting she was taken by the Bank Inspector Fraud. The woman said she got a call on March 16th, from a guy claiming to be from her bank, saying $1800 was deposited to her account by mistake, and they need it back. The scam artist sent a cab to pick up the old woman, who then went to the bank, withdrew the money, and met the scammer at the corner of Jon and Barrie Streets aroudn 3:00 that afternoon. Once she handed over the money, the guy was never heard from again. If you can ID the suspect, have similar story, or even witnessed the money handoff, give South Simcoe Police a call.
