SUMMARY:The Bowie Lives Back by Popular Demand Orillia Opera House
DESCRIPTION:IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Bowie Lives: A Bowie Spectacular- \nCanada’s Sensational Tribute to David Bowie\, THE ORILLIA OPERA HOUSE  SEPTEMBER 19 2025 7:30PM 20 MISSISSAUGA ROAD W Orillia\, ON Ph. 705-326-8011 boxoffice@orillia.ca\nTICKETS: https://secure1.tixhub.com/orillia-oh/online/b_otix.asp?cboPerformances=5764&cboEvent=2405&width=1663 \nSo what is “The Bowie Lives? \n \n“The show was just fantastic! Michael Bell sounded more like Bowie than Bowie! The musicians were stellar and on top of their game. The choreography fit nicely with the delivery. Michael's presentation was right on point... the full house loved the 'call and answer' segments and took part in the Show. And\, there were even some audience members that dressed in costume danced in the aisles!” ~ Pat Porter Radio Personality 4680 Q. \n“Saw the show last night in Toronto and was blown away. Was a little apprehensive at first as I have been a Bowie fan since I was a teen and I was concerned the band may not do the songs justice. I was overwhelmingly thrilled at what I heard and saw\, from the first note I was hooked. The biggest takeaway is you can tell the lead singer is truly a devoted fan himself. Loved the way you honored David Bowie. Hope to see you again real soon!” \nWhat the industry has to say… \n“5 Stars! Unbelievable! I could have watched them for two more hours!” says Richard Crouse of CTV News\, CP24\, NewsTalk1010\, and Host of CTV PopLife. \n“By far\, the best & coolest Bowie Tribute I’ve seen!” says Sam Grosso\,of Cadillac Productions. \n“As close as it gets!” says MusikMirage.com \n  \nThey’re all talking about the “The Bowie Lives” A Bowie Spectacular-Canada’s Sensational Tribute to David Bowie! \nMichael Bell is an award-winning vocalist who channels the sound and styles of David Bowie\, and with the help of an all-star band\, our multimedia\, a theater\, and costumes\, as they capture the imagination of fans young and old. Michael discovered Bowie as a teen and performed songs with a number of his early bands. By the 80’s his first theatrical production “ChangesAllBowie” toured the “A circuit” before hanging up his “Ziggy” in the early ’90s. Decades passed. After David’s untimely death on January 10\, 2016\, Michael’s calling returned; his calling to honor the man who helped shape his life. Together with musical director Michael Beauclerc\, they began auditioning players to fill out a band capable of performing some of Rock’s most challenging material. The Bowie Lives bring all hits to the stage; Space Oddity to Lazarus\, and everything in between. \n  \nThe Bowie Lives PRE-SHOW includes the Bowie Bazaar; T-shirts\, collectibles\, LPs and DVDs\, and more. Come dressed as your favorite David Bowie persona or wear your favorite swag and be rewarded! Don’t forget to grab a button! \n  \nMichael is also the subject of an upcoming documentary film “Being David Bowie” and an upcoming web series “The Bowie Lives.” \n  \nFor more information visit https://www.thebowielives.com/ \nor \nTwitter/Instagram/Facebook/thebowielives \n\n\n\n\n|www.thebowielives.com|

SUMMARY:Steps for Safety: Walk to end Sex Trafficking
DESCRIPTION:The Steps for Safety: Walk to end Sex Trafficking is a family-friendly walk taking place on Saturday\, September 20th. \nFunds raised through the event will directly support Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions (SMFC)’s local anti-human trafficking initiatives. Every day\, we receive calls about local children\, youth\, and families being trafficked or at risk of being trafficked. Human trafficking targets primarily young adolescents\, as young as 13 years old. These are traumatic offenses affecting the family down the street\, your child’s classmate\, and the teenager who attends high school around the corner. Through their anti-human trafficking initiatives\, their goal is to ensure safety\, stability\, and a hopeful future for our friends and neighbors most at risk in our community. \nThe event will begin and end at Fort Willow. Participants can choose to walk 2.5 or 5km. There will be supported rest stops along the way and a tasty celebration meal at the finish line. \nJoin the walk today and help us raise our goal of $40\,000 to make a significance difference in our community!

SUMMARY:Candlelighters Simcoe Superhero Stomp
DESCRIPTION:All children need a hero in their life. For children diagnosed with cancer\, they become a superhero! \nOn September 20th\, caped crusaders and masked heroes will take over Barrie’s Waterfront. People will come from near and far\, uniting together for a common cause - to celebrate the Superhero that lies within those children fighting cancer – the worst of all villains. All proceeds will be used to support local families in their cancer battle. \nJoin us for an event filled with zany fun and magical moments. Face painting\, music\, coloring\, tattoos and so much more begin at 1015am. \nEach and every day we encounter Superheroes… the police who protect our communities\, the firefighters that fight fires\, and the paramedics\, nurses and doctors who save lives. But it’s the littlest Superheroes – infants\, toddlers\, children and teens - who because of a cancer diagnosis had no choice but to become a Superhero that is the most inspiring. We witness children find unimaginable strength to fight the battle of a lifetime. The Superhero Stomp is to celebrate those who have won the battle\, to support and cheer on those currently undergoing treatment\, and to remember those who have been taken away from us too early. \nWhether it is your favourite character or one you created\, heroes of all ages\, abilities and creativity are welcome. Grab your superhero cape and mask\, pull on your spandex tights\, and join us for our 5k Run/Walk to support Candlelighters Simcoe\, whose mission is to empower families on their childhood cancer journey lighting the way by providing hope\, support and education. \n\n

SUMMARY:2025 HTH Charity Golf Tournament
DESCRIPTION:HTH is an intersectional feminist organization in Simcoe County\, working to end all violence against all women. The organization began in 1984 as an emergency shelter and over the past forty years\, HTH has significantly expanded and now provides wrap-around service to women who have experienced violence\, serving over 1000 unique women annually\, and nearly 200 children. HTH is the largest VAW organization providing wrap-around services to women who have experienced violence in Simcoe County. In 2017\, we expanded our mission with Operation Grow\, a dynamic social enterprise based in Midland\, Ontario. Operation Grow provides women with the resources\, training\, and entrepreneurial opportunities to enhance their financial independence while improving their access to nutritious food. This pivotal initiative serves as the foundation for the 2025 HTH event\, showcasing the incredible achievements of women-owned businesses across Simcoe County.   \nThe HTH Golf Tournament at The Nest Golf Club at Friday Harbour Resort is not just a day of exceptional golf—it's an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Hosted by Huronia Transition Homes (HTH)\, this four-person scramble tournament combines the thrill of competitive golf with the mission of ending violence against women and children.   \nSet amidst the stunning backdrop of Lake Simcoe\, The Nest offers a challenging\, yet scenic course designed to inspire golfers of all skill levels. With lush fairways\, water features\, and signature holes\, it's the perfect venue for a day spent with friends\, family\, and business colleagues\, all while supporting a critical cause. This event will bring together a community of supporters united in their commitment to creating a safer and more equitable world for women and children.  \nThe funds raised during the tournament directly support Huronia Transition Homes' vital programs and the hundreds of women and children who access them each year. HTH supports women at every point of their journey\, from safe shelter and housing supports to apprenticeship training and employment. Beyond service provision\, HTH works to cultivate strong connections with community partners\, so your sponsorship will ensure the growth and development of those relationships that in turn directly support the women and children we support.  \nThis year’s event is made possible through the generous sponsorship of local women-owned and Canadian businesses. We aim to provide experiences and opportunities for participants to explore and enjoy what our beautiful country has to offer. From our sponsorships to our auction items\, we've partnered with Canadian businesses to show the power of local communities coming together to make a difference - just like HTH has done for more than 40 years.  \n
