DESCRIPTION:Register today to for this important\, free First Aid Clinic \nLEARN TO SAVE A LIFE – FREE CPR CLINIC \nSponsored by the Rotary Club of Barrie and St. John Ambulance \nWHAT:  Free CPR Clinic for the general public \nWHEN:  Saturday February 22\, 2025 \nTIME:  9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. \nWHERE:  Lampman Lane Community Centre - 59 Lampman Lane\, Barrie \nThis non-certificate event is organized to increase the number of Barrie residents trained to recognize and respond to sudden cardiac arrest and airway emergencies.  With every minute that passes while a casualty is experiencing sudden cardiac arrest\, up to 10% chances of survival decreases.  The early recognition of a cardiac emergency\, starting immediate CPR combined with the use of a defibrillator can increase chances of survival. \nThe hands-on training will teach participants adult and child CPR\, how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) and what to do when someone is choking.  This clinic is proudly sponsored by St. John Ambulance and the Rotary Club of Barrie.  There are two workshops available that day starting at 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. as well as 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Pre-register for this CPR workshop by calling (705) 726-0991 or Jason Coulterman 905-773-3394 x 2124 or email yorksimcoemuskoka@sja.ca .

DESCRIPTION:Poverty is an everyday reality for a growing number of our friends and neighbours. It brings with it increased physical and mental health risks and creates obstacles most people never have to think about. \n\n\nTackling an issue as complex as poverty takes all of us. Your United Way brings together local agencies\, community members\, government agencies\, and businesses to address the root causes of poverty and social isolation in a way that drives long-lasting change. One of the ways we do this is by funding multi-year collaborative projects right here in our in our community. \nIn Bradford\, funds are being raised for a project called Groundwork\, which is being led by group called WOW Living. Groundwork is a wrap-around program for individuals aged 15 years and older living in poverty in South Simcoe. The program provides consistent support to individuals by incorporating group training\, barrier free mental health supports\, mentorship and safe employment opportunities.
