Free Parking Ending At Waterfront Lot In Barrie

Too many abuses of 'free' residential passes

Barrie City Council is changing the rules at the northernmost parking lot at the Marina – which has been free for those with a residential parking pass. It won’t be anymore.  It turns out too many people who worked downtown were using the lot – which was not the intent of the free passes – leaving few places for boaters who rent slips. The new fee structure means slip renters can purchase an annual pass for $100 and everyone else will pay the standard meter rate of $1 an hour.
