Don't fall for it
OPP warning of a new phone fraud – The Front Desk Scam. Someone calls your hotel, asks for your room, then tells you it’s the front desk calling and they need certain info from your credit card (the card number and 3-digit security code). OPP says it is not likely the front desk. if you get one of these calls, best you hang up and wander down to the front desk to see if it really was them. If it turns out there is not a problem with your credit card, inform the Hotel Manager and contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre by visiting their website or calling 1-888-495-8501 to report the incident.
