Children – L’heure du conte en français (French storytime)

L’heure du conte fait découvrir le merveilleux monde des livres et de la chanson aux plus jeunes. / French storytime opens up the world of books and song to the very young. For children 6 and under and a parent or caregiver / Pour les enfants de 6 ans et moins et un parent ou gardien

Woodworking Fun for Children

Come build with us! The Library is pleased to be partnering with the Barrie Community Woodshop to offer a free workshop for children ages 7 – 12 years. Children will be using screws, glue and sandpaper to assemble precut wooden pieces to make stools. There are three sessions to choose from. The program is limited to 20 children with 15 spots being pre-registered and guaranteed and the other 5 spots offered on a first come-first serve basis. Ages limit is firm. Registration for the July workshops begins June 29 and for the August workshop on August 4 at any Public Service station or by calling 728-1010 ext 7019.

Parents or caregivers of any children ages 7-9 years in this program must remain in the library during the program.

Life Size Games (Painswick)

Did you ever wonder what it was like to be a game piece? The whole family is invited to join us every Tuesday evening at the Painswick Branch to try your hand at playing some board games – on a very large scale! Maybe you want to try giant Snakes and Ladders? Or maybe chess is more your style. No matter the game, it’s sure to be fun! Games will be played on the front lawn or in the Massie Family Program Room, depending on the weather and the game.

Branch Science Program – Catch Me If You Can!

The library has teamed up with Scientists in Schools to bring you some forensic fun. Step into the shoes of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson to solve the mystery! Limit of 25 participants ages 7 – 12 years. Age limit is firm. The Library will be taking reservations for the first 18 spots and then the remaining 7 spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.

Registration starts June 28 at any Children’s Service Desk or by calling 705-728-1010 ext 7019. Parents must remain in the library during the program if children are 9 years of age or younger.

Puppet Show – Summer

Enjoy some fun with our library puppeteers! What will our puppets be up to this summer? This puppet show is for ages 3 years and up. Free but due to limited seating tickets will be available 1/2 hour before the show in the library lobby.

Tickets will not be given to people to hold for others arriving later – it is first come, first serve. Limit of 60 people, including adults at each show.

Harry Potter Day

It’s Harry’s Birthday! Join us from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m.at the Painswick branch for the party of a lifetime! Maybe you want to make yourself a magical craft, or maybe you want to try your hand at playing Chaser for the library Quidditch team, or maybe you want to do both! At the Downtown branch we will also have some Harry Potter craft fun from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m.

Children ages 9 years and younger must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

Quidditch for Teens

Teens and tweens going into grade seven and up are invited to play some Quidditch on the Painswick lawn! Participants are welcome to bring their own brooms and dress in costume. The Library will have some brooms available as well. In the case of inclement weather, another activity will be held inside the library. Free drop-in program.
