Fun Things to Do This Fall in Simcoe County
After the cool rainy summer we had, get out and enjoy the best Fall has to offer!
Cool and rainy. That was our summer. In Barrie, the average temperature this August was 5C cooler than last year! So, if your summer was a bit of a bust for the pool and beach, look forward to all the great things to do in the fall!
Apple Picking
There’s nothing quite like a crisp apple picked off a tree so, spend time out in the fresh air and load up on the fall treat! You can learn how to store them so they last, or just start making pies and apple sauce and more. And, of course, eat them fresh!

And, of course, there’s Barrie Hill Farms, which has Pick Your Own…. everything! But this year, it’s their very first year for PYO apples. Make it a family outing and bring some extra cash to buy other local goodies.

Pumpkin Patches
You don’t have to go far to find a pumpkin patch near you!
Check out Rounds Ranch, Chappell Farms, Drysdales, Barrie Hill Farms and more!
And if you can’t get out to pick, look for the many pumpkin stands on the side roads in Simcoe County. I see one at Innisfil Beach Road and the 5th line (just west of the 400) every year!

Fall Fairs
Small town fall fairs are wonderful! Enjoy the midway, agricultural displays; see cute art by kids as well as the best flowers and veggies grown by your neighbours. Don’t miss the demolition derby! Check your local fair’s schedule carefully for all the fun events!
