Garbage Truck Smoke Shuts Down Keswick Neighbourhood

Some Residents Evacuated, Others Told To Stay Indoors

Emergency crews were on scene in Keswick this morning, after it looks like someone threw out some choice chemicals. Smoke started coming out of a garbage truck just after 10:00 in the Natanya Blvd and Wexford Drive area, as York Regional Police say some sort of chemical reaction in the back of the truck started producing smoke. They’re not sure of what chemicals either, and were going around the neighbourhood asking residents to stay indoors for the time being. Those in the immediate area had been evacuated. Two people have been taken to hospital with exposure to this smoke.
