Innisfil Woman Falls for Phishing Email

An Innisfil woman isn’t out any money, but she will have to do some paperwork, after handing out her personal info to a phishing scam. South Simcoe Police say she got an email bill from someone claiming to be Apple, saying she rented some movies online. One of the options to the email was a link that read “click here if you did not make this purchase.” She was directed to an online form to receive a refund. The woman didn’t know it was a phony site until it was too late. She contacted Apple first, then South Simcoe Police, who say this type of phishing scam is a common one.
