Annual Festive Sight Raises Funds and Food For Area Food Banks
Santa isn’t the only festive fixture expected to make an appearance in Simcoe County this holiday season; the Canadian Pacific Railway Holiday Train is coming to Springwater. The annual visit happens tomorrow just after noon, at Highway 26 and Anne St., just north of Barrie. The Holiday Train collects food and money for both the Barrie and Elmvale Food Banks, and raises awareness in the fight against hunger. It comes complete with a box car stage, with live entertainment expected in the Holiday Train’s 17th season. To date, the CP train has raised over $10 million and 3.6 million pounds of food for local food banks. There are also stops today in Mactier (3pm) and Parry Sound (4:30pm)
