Historic Designation For Centuries-Old Springwater Locale

Fort Willow Recognized For Part It Played in War of 1812

Fort Willow is getting some recognition centuries in the making. Officials were on hand at the Springwater fort this morning to help recognize it as a National Historic Site. Fort Willow once served as a stop along a supply chain to the Upper Great Lakes during the war of 1812, without which many say the Americans would have seized control of the  region. It fell into disrepair until a group of volunteers spruced it up starting in 1996. This comes ahead of tomorrow’s Festival At Fort Willow, where they highlight life as a British soldier back then.
