Historical Sexual Assault Charges Laid Against Former Woodbridge Hockey Trainer

Alleged Incidences Took Place Between 1974 and 1976

A former hockey trainer has been charged in connection to reports of Historical Sexual Assaults. In late January of last year, a man came to York Regional Police to report he’d been the victim of sexual assault at age 12. He says it happened while he was playing in a Woodbridge hockey league, and that the suspect was a trainer. The victim told police the trainer had befriended him, offering rides home from the arena between October 1974 and March 1976. The victim says he was assaulted on those rides home, as well as during a trip with the suspect to Quebec and Huntsville. The suspect, a 67-year-old man now living in British Columbia, turned himself in to police, and now faces charges consistent with the Criminal Code at the time of the offenses.
